Sterigenics Celebrates Opening of New X-Ray Sterilization Facility in Southeast United States

Oak Brook, IL, April 7, 2026 – Sterigenics, a Sotera Health company and a leading global provider of outsourced terminal sterilization services, has expanded its Haw River, North Carolina campus with the addition of a new state-of-the-art X-ray sterilization facility located adjacent to its existing gamma facility. The expansion provides customers with additional irradiation capacity, greater flexibility, and enhanced supply chain resilience.

Sterigenics, in partnership with the Alamance Chamber, celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 24 attended by local officials, industry partners, customers, and employees. Following the ceremony, guests toured the new facility and observed the advanced X-ray technology in operation.

Strategically located approximately 30 minutes from Research Triangle Park and 90 minutes from BioPharma Crescent, the expanded campus helps address growing demand for sterilization services across the Southeast United States. The facility provides additional irradiation processing capacity to support manufacturers in the medical device, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, food safety, and commercial industries.

“Our new X-ray facility incorporates innovative technology designed to enhance product safety while enabling high-throughput processing,” said Mike Rutz, President of Sterigenics. “It also allows us to efficiently handle a wide range of product configurations, delivering the flexibility and geographic capacity customers want from a sterilization provider.”

The new X-ray facility further strengthens Sterigenics’ global, technology-agnostic sterilization platform, which now includes 49 sterilization locations worldwide.
